How to prepare your home before your cleaning appointment (and why it actually matters)
How to prepare your home before your cleaning appointment (and why it actually matters)
A little prep goes a long way. Here's what to do before we arrive — and what you never have to worry about.
"Let all things be done decently and in order."— 1 Corinthians 14:40
One of the most common questions we get from new clients is: "Do I need to clean before you come?"
The short answer is no. That's what we're here for.
But there's a difference between cleaning before your cleaner arrives and preparing your home — and that difference can mean the gap between a good clean and a great one.
Here's exactly what helps, what doesn't, and what you can stop worrying about entirely.
"You don't need to clean before we arrive. But a little prep means we spend every minute on the deep work — not the surface stuff."

-
1
Pick up clutter from surfaces and floors
We clean surfaces — we don't sort through piles. When counters and floors are clear, we can work every inch of them properly. Clear surfaces get fully cleaned. Covered surfaces get worked around.
-
2
Let us know about anything special
Moving in? Just had guests? Pet had an accident? Tell us before we arrive. A quick text or note in your booking helps us prioritize and bring the right products for what your home actually needs that visit.
-
3
Secure your pets
We love your fur babies — truly. But having them in a separate room or outside while we work makes everything smoother and safer for everyone. It also means we can move through every room without interruption.

Point out any priorities
If there's a room you want us to spend extra time on, or an area with a specific need this visit — tell us. We follow our standard system on every clean, but we always adjust when a client has something particular in mind.

Make sure we can get in
If you won't be home, confirm the key or access code is ready. If your alarm needs to be disabled, leave instructions. The first few minutes of a clean shouldn't be spent figuring out how to get inside.
What you don't need to do
Stop worrying about these before we arrive
- Pre-cleaning the bathrooms — that's exactly why we're there
- Wiping down counters beforehand — we'll do it right with the proper products
- Making the beds perfectly — we'll make them hotel-style as part of the clean
- Moving heavy furniture — we work around large pieces and focus on accessible areas
- Apologizing for how your house looks — we've seen everything, and we're not here to judge
What a prepared home makes possible
When clutter is managed, pets are secured, and we know your priorities, here's what changes: we spend 100% of our time on the deep work that actually makes your home feel different when we leave. The baseboards. The grout lines. The windowsills. The areas that usually get skipped.
That's the clean that lasts longer. That's the clean you feel when you walk through the door at the end of the day.
"The best clean isn't just a clean house. It's a home that feels like you got a reset — and that starts before we ever walk in."
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters."— Colossians 3:23
